P&PL team participates at ICES Conference in Haifa

19 Oct 2025

Our lab actively participated in the 6th Israeli Comparative Education Society (ICES) Conference, held at the University of Haifa. Lab manager Tanya Khavenson and doctoral students Margarita Kiryushina, Manya Borzenko, and Amos Lagziel presented their latest research on educational and activism policies in diverse contexts, including Israel and Russia. Their talks sparked important conversations about education in times of conflict, highlighting the complex links between school systems, social movements, and democratic challenges.

The conference theme, “Education in Times of Conflict: Challenges to Democracy,” provided an excellent forum for our team to share insights. We were energized by the discussions with fellow researchers and valued the opportunity to exchange perspectives on how education can foster resilience and critical thinking in turbulent times.
