Ullrich Bauer is a professor of socialization research and has been at the Faculty of Education at Bielefeld University since 2014, where he served as Vice Dean and Dean from 2016 to 2021. His professional profile was in sociology, educational sciences and public health. Previous professorial positions include the Faculty of Education at the University of Duisburg, where he founded the Center for Prevention and Intervention in Childhood and Adolescence (ZPI) and headed the Institute of Education. He was a junior professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Bielefeld University and represented the subject of social medicine at the University of Siegen. His work focuses on the topics of socialization and inequality, education and health, and the development of literacy in childhood and adolescence.
